Sim-free with pay as you go phone.

I dont have a android phone yet.
I dont use my current phone for many outgoing calls and never go online through 3G.
I want an android phone mainly for using google mail and calender but would like to know if it can be set to ONLY update through wifi and never through 3g?
I would of course buy a sim-free phone(probably the HTC bravo)and then continue using pay as you go and not a contract.

Far as I know, theres no phone ya can set to only update through wifi

You can download the APNDroid app, this will allow you to turn off your mobile data connection, so then you can just turn on WiFi whenever you want, apps will only use it

I know that on my moto droid I can turn cellular data off in one menu without an app.

Thanks a lot guys. That was just what I was hoping for. Now I only have to wait untill the HTC bravo gets released
