Simcard isn't recognised

I lost my old sd card for my Samsung galaxy ace. I am now trying to use an 8GB micro sd card which is the same one. The phone will not recognize it at all and when I try to take a photo it says I don't have one in when I do?

Does any other device recognise the SD card? If so, you could format it and see whether it works after that (back up any important data on the card first, of course).
