What would be a simple APP, to view movie files that are stored on a win10 PC thru an Android TV?
Anyone recommend 2player?
NOTE that I am trying to avoid installing software on the PC!

So you're asking your Android device to simply guess where your media files are... hopefully, it will find your stuff on the Windows PC, then transcode and play them back... with nothing installed on the PC?

Good luck with that... and Happy New Year!

Or... do what I do...

You could install a Windows service like Serviio (which is a media server that uses next to no resources) and a simple DLNA app on your Android phone to play them all.

If you enable sharing, for the windows directory that your media files are stored in, you could use most file managers to access the media across your network.

Hands up if anyone has managed to do this successfully?

Name Each Computer Correctly
Name Each Workgroup/Homegroup (or Domain) Correctly
Install TCP/IP on Each Computer
Set up Correct IP Addressing and Subnetting
Verify File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is Installed
Temporarily or Permanently Disable Firewalls
Verify Shares are Correctly Defined
Editing permissions of folders and files
Make the PC 'discoverable'.

Or... if everything in your home works the same as it does in a Microsoft laboratory, try this...

I'll bet you a million squid that it doesn't work!

Ok, have setup what you said with Serviio and all works well.
Viewing thru VLC p[layer, and it retains a poor aspect ratio, not the original nor full screen!
Can you recommend any better players/viewers?

VLC has a very simple interface that allows you to change the aspect ratio of your videos.

Click Video then Aspect Ratio and make sure the setting is Default.
If that doesn't work then choose the exact aspect ratio of the video you are playing.

I (almost) always use Kodi for playing video files streamed through my Serviio server.

Let us know how you get on...
