Simple GV user with a simple question??

I use Google Voice on my new Droid and love it. I am trying to use it for SMS but my problem/question is - how do I set it to notify me that a SMS has arrived? I realize there is a lag in receiving these but that's not my problem. I'll open GV and see 5 SMS messages that have been there for an hour and I received no notification.

Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the Google Voice app > Settings > Refresh and Notification. Make sure that Inbox Notifications is checked. I know this sounds silly but it may just be that you have them turned off.

You can pick the ringtone/light/vibration pattern too from there.

No need to be embarrased, it happens. I know I've missed obvious settings in apps before, and ended up slapping myself when I finally found them.
