Simple MHL alternatives

So, my goal is to connect my phone (HTC Desire 816) to an external monitor (via HDMI). I did some research about this and I found that the best solution for this is an MHL converter, which my phone doesn't support. So I need a SIMPLE alternative to it, and by simple I mean that I can go to a local computer store and just buy it instead of ordering it from amazon or something.
Hope someone's got an answer to this, thanks in advance.

P.S. Oh, and I would appreciate if it's not like too expensive or something.

How about Chromecast? Only $35 and it'll show anything on your Android screen now...

EDIT: the local computer store part disqualifies the Chromecast. It's going to be difficult to get what you want.
