SIMPLE program to stream PLS files

I can't believe this is such an issue... every old crappy Windows Mobile phone I had handled this with no problem.

I have a bunch of PLS files for the radio stations I like to listen to.

The Android system and community seems to have no interest in PLS.

I've tried Winamp and Streamfurious, etc... first of all, that's a workaround because I'm forced to browse their lists. Secondly, they all seem bad.

The latest I've tried is "A Online Radio"... kind of got it working, but it's terrible.

ALL I WANT is a player that allows me to browse to a PLS file and play it. Even better would be if it registered the PLS filetype so I could select it in Astro. Yet better would be something that lets the stock music player play PLS files, or something like that...

With so many stupid 'apps' I am amazed I cannot find something with the same features of amazing stuff like original Winamp and Windows Media Player on Windows 95.

On another note, Android keeps deleting PLS files. I can copy a whole folder to my SD card... but they are deleted after the media scan. If I create another file in that folder, they stay... if I delete the file, all the PLS files go with it. This is not a ROM issue or something, it's happened on every custom version of 2.1 and 2.2 I've tried. This is insane.

Please help, I'm overwhelmed and frustrated by falling so short of such a simple goal.

I think i misread what you are looking for. I just copy the link from the browser and paste it in the ServeStream software and let it play. Sounds like wanting to play the *pls file. That I do not know as well as mime type link the browser link to the ServeStream app.

I have been equally frustrated. I have tried Streamfurious / TuneIn Radio / Stitcher etc.

None of them allowed access via a PLS file.

I finally settled for Retro Radio. Its not great - while it does allow custom streams ... it just stops streaming and I have to press the red round button to restart the stream. I think this happens when my phone hops cell towers (I know, it should not).

So ... if anyone knows of a good application that will allow me to add custom streams ... instead of settling for one from a fixed list of stations ... please post here..

Thanks !
