Simple SIM swap works on same model phone. Diff. model also?

My LG Revolution crapped out, and I bought a replacement on eBay. To my surprise, just swapping in my old LTE SIM card worked--no need to go to VZW's website or store and tell them I swapped phones.

Does anyone know if this simple SIM swap would work if I had two different models of phone, so that I could swap phones daily, depending on whim or need? Somehow, I doubt it, because the My Verizon site shows me a picture of an LG Revolution as my phone. But it would be great if this simple SIM swap were possible. (I don't have another model of phone to test this, but would buy one if this worked.)

[EDIT: Just saw this on My Verizon: "Your new device has been detected. You are eligible to retrieve your media. Start My Media Retrieval." This makes me more hopeful that a simple SIM swap doesn't require the same model of phone.]

Thanks. And the tireless bots that recognize the new hardware surely won't get annoyed with me for changing phones constantly.

Yeah the LTE network SIM makes it kinda like how GSM users swap their SIMs and get service on a new phone instantly.

had a similar question I wasn't sure how to search for and saw this thread on the first page so I figured I'd bump/hijack it a little bit.

My brother is due for an upgrade and is willing to let me pay for a Galaxy Note 2 for him then swap it for my Galaxy Nexus so I can get the Note 2 at the upgrade price without mucking with my unlimited data.

We aren't on any sort of shared or family plan, it's separate accounts as far as Verizon is concerned.

He doesn't have a SIM yet (coming from a Droid Incredible) but will be given one when he gets the Note 2; can we simply then swap the SIM cards in the parking lot (my SIM going into the new Note 2 and his new SIM going into my Galaxy Nexus) and be done with it?
