Nice but looking for digital. Its too bad times didnt have an ironman style watch with simple alerts

It seems like most of the not-too-smart smart watches take an analog approach, while the digital ones go more toward full-up Wear OS or similar.

Maybe something like the Fitbit Charge 2 would be close?

it may defeat the purpose of "simple" in terms of setup, but with an android wear watch you can certainly block all notifications you don't want...

... so in you case you could set android wear up so you only get texts and phone call alerts. And of course you can get a digital watch face.
