I have a Motorola E5 play from Verizon. They are not updating from Android 8.0 to 9.0 OTA. Does anyone know I'm simple way to upgrade?

Short answer: no.
Long answer: if you can root it and if someone has made an Android 9 ROM for this specific model then you can install that. But I don't know whether either of this things exists. I do know VZW have a reputation for being particularly hostile to rooting and locking their devices down hard, and I'm not sure an official android 9 exists for any version of this device (which doesn't preclude someone else making one, but makes it a bigger job).
