Help Since gingerbread update 3G turns itself off

I'm on 3 in the UK, upgraded to 2.3.3 Gingerbread, since the upgrade the 3G keeps stopping, tried turning Data Network Mode off and on and this has no effect. If I turn the phone off and on again this fixes it for a while, but then it drops off again, sometimes straight away. Wi Fi works fine when its connected.

YES! I'm on O2 and am experiencing the exact same thing! I heard it's a software issue whereby the phone gets confused as to what to connect to.

Can someone elaborate? This is a REALLY annoying bug!
