Help Since Marshmallow, I can't upload photos to my PC

I've never previously had a bit of problem uploading photos from my Moto G Ext until I was basically forced to upgrade to Marshmallow. Now when I connect by USB cable to my computer, I get a notice that there are no new photos on my device. Uh, there are like about three dozen new photos, and none have been edited on the phone (which I know from sad experience does not work.) I'm still using Windows 7. I've tried a different USB cable. I tried renaming the folder on my PC from
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Photo Acquisition\PreviouslyAcquired.db
to PreviouslyAcquiredOld.db, but I still get the same notice. This never happened on older versions of the Android operating system! I desperately need to upload these photos. Why is this happening, and what can I do to fix it?
