OK, so I got everything to connect nicely but I still am a bit confused:

1) In google voice, should i list "this phone's number" as my Gizmo5 number or my mobile #?
2) Also in GV settings, should I use GV for all calls?
3) Which number should I give people- my GV # or my Giz5 one?
4) Will using GV/Giz5/SipDroid give me free outgoing calls, incoming ones, or both?

using the motorola droid btw

From my experience with Google Voice (about 2 weeks worth), if I tell my phone to use GV for all calls here is what happens:
1) Call person
2) phone actually calls a different number (presumably a Google number)
3) This different number relays my call and the person's caller ID shows my GV number.

I verified this by looking at my Verizon bill. Each time I used GV, it showed a different number that I was calling and of course, it isn't in the Verizon network.

If you want the people to call you, you give them your GV number. When that person calls your GV number, depeding on your GV settings, the call with either be relayed to your phone or sent to your GV voicemail. If you have the call relayed to your phone, your phone will ring. If you don't answer it, it will be routed back to your GV voicemail.

Each missed GV call you have, GV will transcribe the voicemail left, SMS you with the message, plus SMS you to let you know you missed a call and will send you an email with the voicemail set to a wav or mp3 file.

Just because you can install the GV program, doesn't mean you can accedss GV. You still need a GV account, which is something hard to come by since it is invite only.
