Skype over VPN?

Can the Skype for Android application be operated over any of the available VPN stacks?

as far as I know Skype (only on verizon at this time) doesn't work on wireless and only works on 3g

To clarify, I want to operate this app over 3G.

I just need to know if this can be done over a VPN connection.

well... the answer is possibly.. it really depends on the VPN connection. I use VPN connections all day long at work.. some allow me to connect to other things from my PC (such as Yahoo messenger that my boss INSIST that we use).. yet other VPN connections kill all other connections.. only way for you to answer this is to try it and see..

This isn't a question about the connection session itself.

I need to know if the Skype app is able to access the VPN software stack on the handset. This is a software runtime question.

I'd look hard at Fring over Skype.
