sleep mode issue?

My phone only gives me a few seconds to look at a text and then goes to sleep. Sometimes I cannot finish even reviewing a text.

More info is needed, what make and model device do you have, on which carrier, please advise

You should be able to fix it here: Settings -> Display -> Screen timeout
