Sleep mode turns off wifi

I have a Nokia 8 running 8.1, and I need the wifi to stay on so I receive notification from a specific app, at any time. I've found lots of older questions with the same problem, but they all seem to refer to an option called "Keep wifi on during sleep" in Wi-fi Preferences, but I don't have that option. Not sure if it's an 8.1 or a Nokia thing, but the option is gone.

Can anyone point me to some other way of keeping wifi alive?

I don't know if you still need this, but there's a setting that allows wifi to stay on in sleep mode I'm pretty sure
