slow video and sound on multiple apps

I'm new to the android world, but am getting familiar with it fast. However, I'm having trouble with sound and/or video on various apps. First noticed sound issue on Pandora, then also video issue on YouTube and both A/V on streaming video in KidMode app. Video is SUPER slow and sound is so slow and distorted it sounds like a slow lion's roar. Sound works in few apps like Toddler Lock but doesn't in apps that stream sound or video. HELP!!!
