I know that by now, many of you have already donated some money to the relief effort currently underway. In the event that you may be able to contribute a little more - and for those of you who haven't yet got around to making a donation - I wanted to mention a particularly effective avenue to do so. I am part of the Sri Lankan Young Professional Association, a community organization dedicated to furthering many charitable causes.
Having suffered the devastation of the Tsunami in 2005, our community is acutely aware of both the extent of damage and the extent of aid needed to help rebuild a developing nation. As poor as Sri Lanka is, Haiti is even more so, and, therefore, your help is so immensely needed.
I've been a member/lurker here for some time and while I haven't been as active in recent times as I used to be, I immediately thought to turn to the forums I visit to put forward a plea for help.
Even if you are only able to spare $1.00, we would be grateful for your donation.
So that we do not run afoul of donation laws or be seen as anything but sincere, we have chosen to use an immensely reputable organization called FirstGiving/Partners in Health as a means of collecting donations.

Anything you can give, even pocket change, will make a difference. Thanks for your help!
