So... I have a work issued IPhone and wanted something for a personal phone just so I could turn my work phone off and get some occasional peace. I picked up a Galaxy Samsung SM-S120VL. Not the pinnacle of technological advancement, but it did the job.
After about 6 months, or something, it decides it's had enough and stops working. That annoying "no sim card" thing happened. I went through any steps I could look up to reset the thing with no results and Straight Talk was no help.
OK, so after 2 weeks I give up and figure I'll just start fresh. Maybe I just got unlucky. I run to Walmart and grab another new Samsung and go into my Straight Talk account and transfer my number to the new device. Can you guess where this is going? Less than a WEEK and the sim card isn't recognized. I bought this on Saturday. Today is the following Wednesday and it's "no sim card" or "invalid sim card". Really? It was working a few hours ago. What happened in the past few hours with a brand new phone that the sim card is suddenly no good? It wasn't dropped down a set of stairs or a into a toilet...it didn't get fried in the microwave...no one opened it and messed with the sim card, or anything....it's less than a WEEK old.
This is TWO times this has happened within a month....2 phones....2 sim cards.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Am I doomed to buying a stack of back up sim cards? Will I ever get back the lost Straight Talk time I purchased? I don't do gaming on this device. I don't download loads of apps (in fact I don't download any apps). I don't store music. I just need a @#&*# phone that works.
Is this a Samsung issue? Is this a Straight Talk issue?
