I recently bought a Smart TV, excited by the thought of a TV with Linux on it and the opportunities to experiment.
It actually runs Android 2.2.1 and has all the apps for a full mobile phone
I'd like to take it off and put a more accessible Linux distro on.
Any suggestions?
I suppose you could always root it. And from that point on you could flash a new OS on. Might want to find a modding community for that TV though to see what you can and can't do.
Is this Android TV Chinese? Probably a Changhong or TCL. They're becoming quite popular here now. Don't think there's anything about hacking them yet though, let alone installing another Linux distro on them.
BTW these Chinese Android enabled TVs have absolutely nothing to do with Google TV. They are basically running the same Android that one finds on phones and tablets.
