Smartisan T1

Hello. Anyone knows about this Smartisan T1 phone? It's quit a topic in China now. But so far, I don't feel attraction. Anyone knows about this phone and got any thought?

Looks like an oversized iPhone. Specs sound decent but I'd never buy a Chinese phone.

Oh, I wouldn't go that far - there are Chinese phones and there are Chinese phones.

  • With Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei, Oppo etc then you'd know who you were dealing with, that they weren't some fly-by-night backstreet bodger and that there would be some degree of support available.

  • Conversely some unknown clone you know will be a lottery: zero support or QA, built with whatever components were going cheap that week, might work but if it doesn't, or if it breaks, you're completely out of luck. And you know there will never be a software update of any sort.
This one, I don't know. The iPhone-apeing style is offputting to me (looks too much like a clone). The claimed specs and components are rather decent. The company claim to be a new startup, but that means we don't yet know what their products or support will be like in practice (I say "claim" because OnePlus also claim to be a startup when they are actually a subsidiary of Oppo. All I can find out about these guys is that their backers are "undisclosed"). The software looks very Chinese, which is fine if you are in China but I've seen nothing to indicate whether there is any international version.

One thing that no specs I've found say (including several "full specs" listings) is what network bands/protocols it supports. Engadget.cn say that it doesn't support 4G, but that's all I can find. So I don't know how well it would work outside China - some Chinese networks use home-grown standards which are not used elsewhere, and you can't assume worldwide compatibility.

I know Smartisan T1 phone, This mobile phone looks very beautiful, hardware process are good, the front and rear panels are made of glass, heard that the camera and sound quality is quite good, I have some photo collection, you may have a look. “ht_tp://1drv_.ms/1h8_evIj ” (When the copy address the need to remove three underscores)

I've heard of this one recently, but it's not actually available yet. Probably a start-up trying to produce a high quality and high-specced Android for a reasonable price. OnePlus are another one.

The T1 itself looks like an iPhone, so no points for originally here. They're calling their version of Android, Smartisan OS, which is heavily customised and skinned. But then many Chinese manufacturers do that now, Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo, etc, with things like MIUI, Flyme and ColorOS.

After a bit more investigation, here's something interesting I think.

The "Smartisan OS" that this phone is running, from the available screenshots appears to be virtually identical to Oppo's ColorOS. I wonder if there's a possible connection here between the two companies, like there is allegedly between Oppo and OnePlus, who's phone also comes with ColorOS in China.
