SMS Conversation not Appearing (Xperia X8)

Hi all, I'v recently bought my first Android phone, an Xperia X8. Seems great so far, but I've run into a minor snag - my SMS conversation with my wife is not showing up in the default messaging app.

When I write her a new message, I can see the previous ones in the conversation, but there is no button appearing in the basic view to just read what has been said.

I've done a bit of googling but can't seem to find people with the same problem. I know I tried deleting the conversation previously but we've exchanged messages since then. I also installed handcent and then uninstalled it, so maybe that stuffed things up.

I'm running Android 2.1, if that helps.

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated!

I suggest that you try to clear data in the default messaging app.
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Press the first hardware key > Filter > All > Messaging > Clear data.

Note by doing this you'll delete all the messages that you have on the phone, but I think that this is necessarily to do to see if it might fix the problem.
