Root SMS issue on cm10.1

Lurker
I have my spectrum rooted and running CM10.1-experimental-M2.
Whenever I am texting and go over 160, it used to convert them to mms messages to keep them in one long message. However, since I installed cm10.1 it splits them up.
Any way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks

I would love to know the answer to this also. This phone had no issues sending messages over 160 without splits with the stock OS.

GoSMS and Handcent provide the option to split messages, but if it's not checked, the large message just fails to send.

The stock messaging app splits automatically.

I also though Verizon supported messages over 160 without converting to mms now.

I never had issues with sending messages over 160 until jelly bean. It always worked fine on gingerbread and ics. I have no idea what the fix could be if there even is one. I've been on jelly bean roms since last december so I've learned to just keep messages below 160.

Hey guys, try this MMS.apk http://db.tt/vGXV5uhb

This is a modded MMS.apk that is highly customizable and you can choose whether it splits sms after 160 or converts to MMS.

With root explorer delete old MMS.apk in system/app and replace with this one. Reboot and enjoy.

Oh and don't forget to set permissions before rebooting!

Have you tried it on a Spectrum?

Yes, this worked. Thank you.

Now I just need Handcent or GoSMS to add this option.

Handcent has the option. It just doesn't work well. I've tried to just tell handcent to send it as multiple messages instead of converting.

I guess it could be an issue with the mms.apk though as legman suggested. I'm pretty sure any of the third part texting apps just hook through the stock texting app anyway.
