SMS notification not going away??? Plz help!

I just got my Thunderbolt yesterday and all is going well (except for the battery life) but in my stock SMS and mms icon shows I have 2, like 2 notifications for messages. Notifications drive me nuts! So I deleted all my conversations, same thing still 2 notifications. Then I checked for drafts, there was 2 I was like o sweet I figured it out so I deleted them but yet there is still 2 notifications. Am I'm missing something small and stupid or wat?

Are you maybe using a third-party SMS program? When it gives you a notification, click on it to see which program opens up. Then click the SECOND notification and see if a different program opens.

If you're using a different SMS program, just go into the stock SMS and uncheck notifications.

No it's the standard stock app that came wit the phone. It doesn't show the 2 on the main screen but when I go into the messenging app it has a 2 around "all messages" and "SMS and mms". -thanks for the help so far, those notifications annoy me so much lol
