Help SMS solution PLEASE

Can someone please help me out with any knowledge of any sms app that's supports a quick compose feature WITHOUT having to use the camera or search buttons for the HTC one X? I'm definitely a noob, only been on android OS for 6 days now, but the one X hasnt any search or camera softkeys? I've been an apple user for sometime, and I do not want to start a pissing match, but I've used bitesms for years and have yet to come across an android sms app to even hold a candle to it.. does anybody have any knowledge of what else to try? I've tried gosmspro, pansi sms, handcent, and chomp. Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Sent from my HTC One X

I use Handcent SMS it is free but does have a lot of powerful features. You can also customise it to look like iphone sms features :)

Ohhhh no, I want to stay away from anything that reminds me of apple lol.. Im just craving a decent quick compose to match the quick reply.. But yea of all the apps I tried I'm sticking to handcent. Aside from QC, it's really feature-rich... But thank you for the reply bro!

Yea i set up the 4x4 widget with all my contacts for a little ease... On bitesms I could press the volume up and a small message would pop up and enable quick compose.. from anywhere, apps, lockscreen, notification center, homescreen... It was perfect.. but this HTC one X is so fast it can get me in and out my handcent app quite quickly! This phone is making my first android experience awesome!

I am also looking for something that lets me quick compose on the HTC One X since it doesn't have a physical camera or search button!

Anyone know of any updates for the 3rd party messaging apps? Sms killing me without quick compose and a decent popup window.. too bad I don't know how to develop something lol

I don't think you will be able to achieve exactly what you want without rooting. You would then be able to remap one of your volume keys for example.

Man I want to root so bad... But I'm nervous lol.. I've been jailbraking iphones for years, and know the ins and outs of the ios, modifying files and themes.... Even if i did root, I'm so new to android I wouldn't even know what to do after lol. I definitely need to do some resarch!

what about using the voice app? look for the microphone icon attached to the google search widget (i keep it on my home screen). then just say, send text message to and the name of the person (presumably in your contacts list) and the actual text. a box will pop up saying text, with the name of the recipient and your message, then you can either cancel or send. i'm a lousy typist, too, so if i every got heavily into texting, that would help a lot.

caveat: i have not actually sent any messages this way. but i tried the speaking part when fooling around with the phone. pressing that mic icon is also much faster and generally more accurate than going into the phone app and using the icon there for calling.
