SMS summary in lockscreen

Currently running my N5 stock, and trying to keep it this way as much as possible.
I am using the default SMS app (hangouts).
Is there any way to display unread SMS messages in the lock screen without installing a different SMS client?

Download dashclock from the play store and also the hangouts extension for dashclock. Then add dashclock widget to lockscreen

Cheers. I had dashclock, but didn't know about hangouts for dashclock. Its looking good now.

you can always just enable lock screen widgets and then display all your messages.
