SMS to Email (and vice versa)

Simply put, I want to integrate my SMS with my email. If I get a text message, I want to see it in my SMS client but also in my email. Also, if possible, I would like to be able to respond to my incoming text messages from my email client.

I know that to at least an extent Google Voice can do this but apparently not with Metro unless I use my GV number as my primary number.

Thanks in advance for your help.

So you want to integrate 2 completely seperate services. The only way i can see this happening is if metro integrates the sms service and the email service they provide. Otherwise i think what youre asking is a pretty tall order for any dev. Consider that sms goes directly to your phone and emails go to some server in an unknown location. I really think this would have to be provided as an already integrated service, but i do like the idea.

This is being done now with Google Voice. GV can forward to your mobile number and any text messages you receive can be accessed in GV through a browser or forwarded to email that you can reply to.

The two services are more similar than you think. Both go to servers and all mobile providers have a domain for email to SMS. So you can send a text message to 4155551212@attsms.com (or whatever their domain is) and the person at that number would get a text message.

This should be a standard offering.

Look at PhoneLeash (Android Market, free). It can forward SMS to your email, and you can reply to the SMS (from your email) as well. I think that what you are asking for? If you like the app, can you please post a review :)
