I would suggest downloading an SMS app like: Handcent or Go SMS Pro
They offer much customization and would probably help you to get what you are looking for out of a messaging app.

Wow thank you so much for a quick reply, i have just tried Go SMS pro, but couldnt get it to work, will try Handcent.. thank you again

sorry its me again, i have downloaded and installed, but is there a setting on the phone, that will use this app as default
