Snapchat Hack

SnapchatDB said it “censored the last two digits of the phone numbers” in order to “minimize spam and abuse”

Come on, at least censor 3 or 4 numbers. 100 combinations isn't much for someone who wants to do some spamming.

Obviously this presents a large security hole, but personally I believe its good that it was found and reported by security researchers and not people with malicious intent.

Shame on snapchat for taking so long to respond that they had to do something to get more attention

There are ways of kicking your neighbor without killing everyone on the block. Posting the numbers of a couple of key execs in the company and telling them that they'd send the rest on request would have done the same job without the damage.

The security research team that found the exploit doesn't appear to be the group that posted all of the numbers.
