snes/gba emulators the "oid"s!

Ok so I'm having a little bit of a problem with these specific emulators on my phone. Even nes/gb lag once in a while but it isnt even close to snes/gba.

What can I do to speed up my phone?
Does anyone else have gba/snes on their cliqs and does it run smooth?
Wondering if rooting my phone would solve the problem... to free up alot of unwanted programs

Have you tried installing advanced task killer? Using the widget to kill all my unused apps clears up memory for Gameboid/SNESoid
