SNesoid: Best and Easiest to play

NexT2010

Lurker
I have a HTC Evo and it all touch screen. I just downloaded Snesoid and a couple Roms with the help of some wonderful members here. I tried playing Super Mario World and it was so HARD using the on screen D-Pad and buttons.

My question is what games are out there that are good and are easy to control using the touch screen controls? I was thinking Secret of Mana maybe.

Thanks.

SNES action games are the toughest to play with touch screen controlls, IMO

Puzzle, RPG, strategy seem the easiest.

Yeah, Mario was hard. I lost all 5 lives on the first level and gave up. Do you know of any good Puzzle games off the top of your head for the snes?

if you are into platform games, Kirby Superstar is doable on sneoid, and also Mario RPG is also very fun, and good combination between Mario and RPG :)

Just go with NESoid instead. It lends itself to touchscreen gameplay better than more complex 16 bit emulated games. Or you can do what others have suggested and avoid "twitchy" games that require precise directional control... Although I love my EVO, the ONLY reason I would consider the Epic is because you can map the buttons to the keyboard. Food for thought if you are serious about emulators...

FF3/6 is indeed all you need.

just finished the Opera House. Having Fast Forward on the whole time at 2x...makes the game so much better

Some off the top of my head

Lost Vikings 1 & 2 (more like action/puzzle game)
Young Merlin (lite RPG with puzzles)
Tetris Attack
Bust a Move
Sim City 2000

Quick question; Does SNEStoid and its similar apps (GENEStoid, GameBoid etc) allow you to remap controls? I've just discovered that I can possibly connect a wiimote to my phone and use that (JOY!) for the control pad.

I am currently playing Legend of Zelda, and I am having no problem playing it with the touch screen.

Other than that I havent really played much else although I did try Super Metroid and that wasnt to bad. Im gonna switch to that after finishing LoZ.

Unfortunately, my device does not support multi-touch. :eek:This is pretty essential for playing about 90% of the titles that I would want to play. I tried it when I first got the phone, and uninstalled it in a moment of frustration when I realized I couldn't move and jump at the same time in Super Mario Bros.
This is why I'm very curious about the wiimote app. :D

The wii remote app (Even the free one) works fine with all of the emulators. The only thing the Wii Remote app doesn't work on are phones with HTC Sense UI.

The "oids" all have key mapping. Menu, settings, input settings > key mapping.

did you get kirby to work? because it wont for me? i am useing lite version until i can figure out to play kirby then i might buy

+1 for Super mario RPG and Zelda! best ever for Snesoid!
Action twitch games are really hard to play using touchscreens, but very doable when using keyboards and bluetooth gamepads

Yoshi's Island works well on the EVO. It's a little more deliberate than Super Mario World and less "twitchy," so the touchscreen controls are more manageable. Also, the graphics still hold up 15 years later...

I tried playing Super Metroid and I couldn't even escape from the first level and gave up. Touchscreen controls and SNES action games do not mix...

May be a dumb question: can I get this with an unrooted phone???

ya of course, as long as you can buy pay apps (only in US and few European countries). If you cannot buy apps, you can still get the lite version, to try it out, until google enable paid app in your country.

I can't use a Wii controller with my Incredible? Do you know why?

Wow, you guys hate the virtual d-pad? I actually think it works great and play Mario games and playstation games without any trouble =/

Wiimote made it much better =D So weird..playing Final Fantasy 7 on my Evo4g using a Wiimote...ahh technology <3
