In the screen shot you have the display on and thus the phone will be awake and drain the battery.

That being said, from what I have read having Wifi on drains the battery because he phone is constantly searching for a Wifi signal. It isn't supposed to do that. So, as a test, try turning Wifi off and don't leave the screen on when not using the phone.

ICS have a big issue with battery life. have you done a hard reset on the phone after upgrading??? it does help with getting the battery stats reset.

Also download the Task manager killer from google play. i find it help with saving the battery when my phone is idle. It barely drain any battery as i dont use it at work. Hope i can help.

I did a hard reset after the ICS update and I still have problems with battery life. It is a bug with how ICS handle's wifi on our phones.

after resetting it a couple of more times hard and soft resets, the battery seems to be back to be somewhat normal, now getting my apps and settings back ahhhh , fun times

Did you format the USB storage when you did the hard reset?

You could try using Juice Defender. Its basically an app that can control the on/off state of the data radio as well as the wifi radio on your phone depending on whether or not your phone screen is on or not. ie Juice Defender will turn off your 3G/4G/Wifi Connection when the screen is off, so as to save a lot of battery. It can also be configured to shut off the Wifi radio when no connected to an actual wifi network. It has multiple versions at different levels of price and I've had nothing but good experience with it. As for using a task killer, I'd steer clear of those, as they can be hit or miss on saving battery life, because they can kill apps that just restart, wasting processing power essentially while sitting idle.

I called Samsung about a couple of hours ago...
I explained to them I have gone thru 3 1800 mAh batteries, and now I have an extended battery.
This morning and every morning since day one, as soon as I unplug the phone, I waste 1% battery JUST UNPLUGGING THE DAMN PHONE!.
I also have followed recommendations from everyone here and from folks on youtube. XDA developers and such.
I have taken my phone to Sprint about 4 times and they tell me: do not use live wallpaper, get rid of unnecessary apps, do a phone hard reset and install one app at a time to find out which one sucks the most battery out of my phone...
I explained all this to the CSR.
She said her own phone does not give her but 8 hours if that.
She also said I could send the phone to Samsung to test it. I told her that I took it to Sprint Techs at their local store...
Long story short, and as per her feedback, she said that if we use our phones we are going to have battery drains....

I have been obsesivelly trying to correct my battery problems from about day one, since I got my Samsung...
I really miss Blackberry outstanding battery performance.

I tried Juice Defender and it did not work for me.

Just wanted to follow up on the ICS / battery / WiFi issue. A Factory Reset helped my battery problems, but it still seems to be draining faster than it did before. And I noticed it drained even faster when I was at home and connected to WiFi constantly (which makes no sense, but was pretty clearly happening).

I fooled around with some settings, some diagnostics (CPU Spy and BetterBatteryStats) and even tried a couple of battery saver apps to shut off WiFi (Easy Battery Saver and 2X Battery). I found that when I was connected to WiFi my phone was not getting to DeepSleep mode ... something was keeping it "awake".

When I tried different settings for "Keep WiFi on during sleep" neither "Never" or "Always" seemed to make much difference, but "Only when plugged in" seemed to actually help. My phone gets to DeepSleep much more often (unless it's plugged in, which doesn't really matter) and seems to drain slower. The downside is that now WiFi sometimes (but not always) doesn't re-connect when the phone wakes up. Doesn't make any sense that "Only when plugged in" acts much different than "Never", but maybe there's a bug in that bit of code? FWIW.

I posted about this a while ago. The reason is that your phone is constantly "searching" for connections, even after it's connected. That is the drain. When you put it on "only when plugged in", the wifi then stops searching. You can actually see it searching if you go to wifi settings. After a lot of research, it seems it is definitely related to Sprints toggle to help you get to wifi from 3G (the name is escaping me right now) that way data usage is cut down for you. There used to be a way to turn it off, but that is not there with ICS. I was in contact with Sprint over two days and they don't have an answer...so hopefully it will be corrected with an update. The thread on this is on the forum someplace. Anyway, I hope that helps you.

But the funny thing is that there's a "Keep WiFi on: Never" option, and that doesn't seem to work as well (even though it should be even better). Something specific about the "only when plugged in" really improves the battery life on my phone.

My battery life has been great on ICS. As you can see in the screen shot, my screen is on quite a bit too. I am on my phone playing games, browsing and texting often. Here is my setup.

I am running the Goodness Rom from XDA with the kernel that came with the Rom.

I changed my modem back to EL29 because my signal and data speeds are way better than FF18 in my area.

-I have Wi-Fi always on.

-Brightness set to auto.

-Only auto sync gmail, calendar and browser. The rest I just manually sync when needed.

-turn off all system sounds like touch sounds, dialer, lockscreen..all of them because the is a known wakelock associated with those settings. If you download the app betterbatterystats and let it monitor your phone while not in use for a couple hours and check under partial wakelocks and see AudioOut_1 and have those system sounds active then try turning them off and run the same process again and see what it says. The partial wakelock prevents your phone from going into deep sleep thus draining battery.

-Screen timeout set to 1 minute.

-Haptic feedback off.

That is my basic setup. Hope that helps.
