So confused about push email

I switched over from my BB curve. I've used Gmail forever. In order to get my emails (Gmail) pushed instantly to my Android do I have to have the data sync and google sync on all the time on the Android? I'm sorry this probably has been asked before but I couldn't find it. Also, if it must be left on to get my emails right away, will that kill the battery?? I really enjoyed the push email of the BB and hope this will be the same. Thanks for your response in advance. I look forward to being a part of the Android community since I was a part of the Crackberry one for quite some time.

Hi Fenwayphil and Welcome to the Forum! :D

1) Yes you will need to have Data Sync and Google Sync {Gmail sync} on all the time to receive your push emails.

2) It is not very draining on your battery at all :)

Thanks Carl!! That helped me quite a bit. I just got a message on my gmail sync in red saying sync is down and will be back shortly. Hope that doesnt happen often .
Thanks again Carl
