So has anyone been able to get a Droid with pay as you go minutes?

Apologies if this has been answered, but it's so hard to get a straight answer because the employees at Best Buy, VZW stores, and VZW customer service all give you different answers.

I'm a longtime VZW customer (currently on the LG Voyager), on the $39.99 plan for 450 minutes. Now, I never come ANYWHERE close to hitting that minutes threshold. (Seriously, I've been dating my girlfriend for about six months and have maybe spoken to her on the phone four times. We communicate almost entirely through text and Gchat, the only time I'm ever on the phone is to check in with my parents once a week or so).

I want to get the Droid, and I'm aware that there's no way around the $30/month for data. Fine. What I'd like to do is have no voice plan at all and pay 25 cents per minute. By my math, that would get me 160 minutes per month before it no longer makes sense for me to not go with my current $39.99/450min plan. Since I never talk on the phone anyway, I'd be saving a ton of money.

I read on another forum that someone was able to pull this off - can anyone confirm? Thanks.

You can't do a pay as you go but call into customer service and ask about loyalty plans. Ask them to look at your total usage and there is probably something that will fit your needs. These are non advertised plands and differ depending on what region your in. I only know the Midwest plans.

Excellent advice - I had no idea such plans existed. I called up and was able to get a $25 plan for 100 anytime/500 nighttime, which should more than suit my needs. Thanks!
