So I returned the device. How long does it take to get a refund?

I returned my Droid within 30-days guarantee period because it constantly turned off itself while charging and the screen was loose. Upon requesting for exchange, Verizon charged me $209 on the new phone and said that I will get a refund as soon as they receive the defect.

The defect was sent back using the shipping label I received from Verizon and it was confirmed to be delivered on Feb. 20. I've already called the customer service numerous, numerous times but I still haven't got refunded either on my VZW account or my bank account.

How long does it usually take to get a refund, seriously?

It could take up to a billing cycle. Make sure you hold onto that return fed ex tracking number in the event they need to research the return if the credit is not applied.

Yeah it took us about 3 weeks to get our refund on an ENV we sent back, the only reason it was credited that fast was because I went to the store and said I was ready to buy 2 eris' right now...the adjustments got made since it was showing "delivered" in the system, otherwise they said it could be up to a billing cycle.

im now going on 2 billing cycles and have yet to get the credit from the phone i returned in jan... and they keep telling me oh it takes up to 2 billing cycles which is bs. they have the phone refund me. they threatened to cancel my service cause i have yet to pay for my new droid i recieved but why would i pay for it when ive already paid for one that i dont have in my possesion?

Seriously? 2 billing cycles? Damn... how longer do I have to wait then? :(
I still haven't got the refund. Any ideas on expediting the refund other than calling the reps? It's almost making me feel that they'll never give me the refund.

Actually it is now 3 billing cycles just got the latest one and it is still on there. My service was disconnected because of it saying i was late, they told me i was going to have to pay a collection fee (having it goto collections) and a reactivation fee... after fighting with them for an hour of telling them its clearly their fault for not crediting me within the 2 billing cycles, they finally reactivated my phone. iam yet again still waiting for another phone call since my new bill is in and its over 350$ and still no credit.

Ok so... I called again today and they're also telling me it'll take 3 billing cycles. I talked to a friend of mine and he suggested to report it to Better Business Bureau. So I checked out the their website [HERE] and I find this:
What types of complaints does the BBB handle?
Complaints involving marketplace activities -- misleading advertising, improper selling practices, non-delivery of goods or services, misrepresentation, un-honored guarantees or warranty, unsatisfactory service, credit/billing problems, contracts not fulfilled, etc., are handled by the Better Business Bureau where the company is located.
I'm really sick of them keep changing what they're saying and finding any excuses possible to just hang me up. So I think I'm going to file a complaint and see how it goes.

@baa269: If you live in the US, I think you should do this too.

wow this is weird. I have the option to bill to my account. My eris wasn't acting right so they sent me another one(which they bill you for untill you return the old one) and by the next billing cycle the credit for the returned one was there. In a corporate store they can send in requests to the company that handles the billing (its not handled by Verizon) to have the money credited back to your account. It has a faster turn around rate than 3 freakin billing cycles! Also when you send a phone back you NEED TO KEEP THE TRACKING NUMBER from the lable they give you. That tracking number is your only defense if they say that haven't received the phone at the warehouse.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you just take the bad phone back to a verizon store and get them to hand you a new one there on the spot? I went through 7 BB Storms in a year because of screen issues or boot issues (one of the biggest reasons I switched to Droid... no suretype) Each time I took the phone back to the store they swapped me out right there on the spot. No money had to exchange hands and no charges on my bill.

if you purchase online and return within 30 days you have to return online per policy. Store managers can make exceptions, but they rarely do.

Good thing I still have the tracking number in hands. On USPS website it clearly shows the device was delivered to the warehouse in January so I surely have my backup.

I called again today, and the rep told me she me back shortly about any updates. I'm really going for BBB if it doesn't work this time.

Update!!! Called *611 spoke to a nice rep Robert, he listened to my problem said let me look at your account, looked at notes going back to Jan 13th! Said i can fix this put me on hold for about 10 mins, boom, 5 mins lateer i have a 213.99 credit on my VZW bill and i got an extra $10 credit on my bill for having the hassle. It pays to call and speak calmly. just make sure you have your tracking numbers!

It worked out for me today, too! I spoke to a rep named Laura who said she had exactly the same problem with her phone last year, and later messaged me saying my $209.99 is back in my account. Although I didn't get the extra $10, I'm so relieved that this is done. Gosh, until today, every time I looked at my Droid it drove me crazy reminded of the refund. I'm just so happy this is over.

Thanks for your support all. I'm putting this on my diary tonight. :D

Happy for you! The fact of the matter is, whoever handled both of these situations the first time was probably just too lazy to do it right. It unfortunately gives VZW a bad name. Glad robert and laura where able to help. You should call back and report your resolutions to their respective supervisors. My wife works in a call center and it truly is a thankless job most of the time. Its nice when you are recognized for doing something right!
