Help So is my phone now unlocked?

I finally came out of contract and got an unlock code from AT&T.

Entered it last night using the keypad dialer combination code advised in the email. I didn't have a "competitors' SIM" to use last night

Today, I borrowed a VERIZON Sim from a friend. Inserted it, and the phone works and allows me to click into my apps and phonebook etc. However it didn't load up to a mobile data signal although I did see 5 bars of some "signal" that was unrecognized. I assume this is because my phone is GSM and the Verizon SIM uses CDMA or something.

So is the simple fact that I could enter the phone contacts etc with someone else's SIM in there proof that my phone is now unlocked?

Thanks

Not necessarily, I can use my phone just fine and view my info and apps without any sim in. The signal is an idicator it could be working though, data was probably not due to APN settings (or lack of)
