so just curious on rootingand updates

Let's say i rooted a phone running 2.0.1, and the update for either 2.0.2 or 2.1 came out (i'm just making up firmware versions don't flame me, just setting up scenarios) What would happen if i was to update to the new version if i rooted the phone?

well it wouldnt auto update with official releases. With cyan mods, IIRC he had a built in updater to check for new rooted firmwares, but its been a while since ive played with my g1...
