So measles is apparently making a comeback

And this development annoys me to no end. In 2000, the CDC announced that measles had been eliminated in the US. Last year there were over 200 cases and it's been rising the past 6-7 years or more. Why? Because people aren't getting the freaking vaccination.

It's beyond ridiculous. Why people are avoiding a vaccination that has been proven to be safe on religious or philosophical grounds is insane. I'm a religious guy, but even I think there shouldn't be an exemption to something that is a public health issue. Or am I way out in left field here? Should the measles vaccine be mandatory?

It seemed familiar to me when I posted the rant. Perhaps this can be locked. I was annoyed by a news story I saw today.
