Help So... this happened.

So I put an mp4 file (made in adobe premiere, so it definitely wasn't a virus) in my SD Card and when I played it on my phone it was all black... I downloaded VLC, tried to play the vid, but no luck. Then, I went to the file and deleted it. File explorer froze, shut it down w/ task manager, and screen goes black for a sec. Then it goes back to normal. I open the Phone Drive and the SD card basically was renamed to this: 䌀ẇ䐀ẇ䔀ẇ䘀ẇ䜀ẇ䠀ẇ䤀ẇ䨀ẇ䬀ẇ䰀ẇ䴀ẇ一ẇ... I mean, it's not even an SD card anymore, because it has all the same files that the Interal Storage has... I also tried to rename it but it didn't work.

I'm not sure it's so much that it was a bad video file, but that the video file stressed the SD card enough for it to fail. I'd see if you can read the card in a PC card reader first and then maybe see if it can be formatted. Are you sure it was a legitimate SD card?

Yes, it was legitimate. I bought it from Best Buy

This^^^ happened to me.

A 32gb Samsung Evo I purchased at Walmart. After about a month of ownership I played a video and after like 10 seconds it crashed and the sd card became corrupt and non-recoverable. No formatting or software was able to fix it.

SD cards are like used car salesmen .... never trust them 100% ;)
Tell me about it. After that I said hell with samsung and got a 64gb Sandisk Ultra. Guess what, same happened with that one.

I noticed that it seems class 4 cards are more reliable than class 10. My class 4 8gb Samsung card purchased around 2008 has been through war and back and still going strong.

Luckily I stream everything so I don't need much storage on my phone. The internal storage is enough for me.

As for the OP, if formatting doesn't fix it, then it might be dead.
