Help soft keys stop lighting up

My soft keys will randomly just stop lighting up , happens at least once a day. Sometimes it fixes itself and sometimes it only gets fixed by plugging in the charger. My battery is always at least 60 percent or higher when this happens so it's not from a low battery .

I am pretty sure the lights on the soft keys work with the light sensor. If there is enough light then the buttons won't light up. If there is not enough light then the buttons will light up. I thought there was a problem with mine as well but my friends works the same way. I tested it by covering up the light sensor and the lights came on.
