Have you tried hdmi on it? Is it possible to change the bottom icons? I'm looking for a wifi pda for my mother.

Sorry I missed your post bob!
No I have not tried HDMI mirroring and I don't thing that is possible without rooting the device.
The bottom icons? Change them to a different icon or removing them?
This particular Evo is stock, unrooted but it is simple to root.
As far as the screen, there are no scratches, that is the light.
