I have unlocked it but have not taken it to the US yet but do not see why it wouldn't work there. Before I unlocked it, my only choice for networks was for TELUS, after unlocking it I can choose between TELUS, Bell and Rogers Wireless (Settings->Wireless & networks->Mobile network settings->Network operators->Search networks).
