Help [SOLVED] Any way to get auto-rotate?

I was under the impression that although there is no auto-rotate on the home screens, most apps WOULD auto-rotate.
As it turns out, very few do which has turned out to be more of an issue that I expected.

For example, with the browser showing full websites, I would prefer to be able to browse in landscape view it I wanted.
gReader has a dual pane view which works well on landscape mode but is pretty useless in portrait mode.
More than anything, I would have liked to be able to rotate when using the keyboard, so if I'm typing a fair amount I can take advantage of the larger landscape keyboard.

Is there any way currently that I can get auto-rotate on the Nexus, without rooting or custom ROMS?

I did try a couple of launchers (Apex and Nova) which are able to force landscape mode but not auto-rotate, so I can only have one or the other.

There should be a toggle in the notification bar when you drop it down. I would give you a description of what it looks like but I haven't received mine yet.

Hahah! I feel pretty stupid.
I did notice that icon the first day but couldn't think what it did so ignored it :)

Sorted now and thanks people.

Hehe :)

Still, I would consider it a setting really so would have expected to find it somewhere in the tablet settings.

But anyway, that has now fixed the single biggest issue I had with the Nexus. Can't find much to fault it now :D

In using the Hulu Plus app on my totally rockin Nexus 7 it just won't go to landscape mode. Now, I don't know if that's because:

a) Hulu Plus doesn't support it yet on the Nexus 7 since it's Jelly Bean, or
b) There's some hidden settings that they've buried and can't get to without a degree in proton neuralization, or
c) It has something to do with the Hulu files themselves (where they just only show in portrait mode, which I doubt)

I read that there was an update to the Hulu app to support ICS and also 7" tablets. Since this is a 7" tablet then I assume that it would display in full screen. But, it doesn't. It displays like a letterbox style in portrait mode with about 2 inches on top and bottom of just black space.

So, my question is, does anyone know if the Hulu Plus app does in fact work on the Nexus 7 with landscape viewing and what it is I have to do to get that to do so.

Anyone have that info? Much appreciated!

Aha! No sooner had I posted this I found the answer. There's a 'screen orientation lock' gizmo that apparently was activated that forces everything to stay in portrait mode. Once I turned that off we're in biznesssssssss!

FYI, don't listen to the neener neener ipad types, this thing is off the charts for the $$$'s. Fast, impressively sharp, and just plain makes it fun. I got the 16GB model for just $117 at Gamestop after trading in a bunch of old Xbox crap and, yep, my old generation 1 iPod Touch which was like a tinker toy compared to this. No regrets whatsoever!! Get one!!

Glad your all set HTML, I merged you in with another thread with the solution, but you solved it while I was in process.:D

Appreciate it! I did do a search but this thread didn't show in the results. Or I wouldn't have started another. But thanks again anyway. Always good to see the forums clicking along!
