Has anyone successfully tethered in infrastructure mode on jb? I have tried all of the device profiles in wifi tether for root users with no success.
(won't even work in ad-hoc)

Download this version of WiFi tether for root users:
Official Link

Mirror1

Then use these settings:

device profile - generic ics/jb wlan0
setup method - auto
send netd max client cmd - checked
wifi driver reload -checked
wifi driver reload 2 - unchecked
routing fix - checked

BIG thanks to Mattrakos for helping me out

What did you use for device profile and setup method?
It actually shows with that version, but i still can't get it to connect

and it works doesnt time out connects to my laptop really well doesnt connect to other androids or tablets at all but to laptops perfectly

send netd max client cmd - checked

this is what i was missing. Thank you. It's working properly now:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

And it connected to another Android for me. Tried it with my friends warp. When i get home I'll test with my n7. (but if it worked with the warp, I don't see any reason it wouldn't work with my nexus)

Edit- works on the n7 too

Okay. Don't know why I'm not having success here, so help is always appreciated. I have used the same wifi tether program on my HTC EVO 3D, and for some reason, a new Galaxy Rush phone brought into the family is having issues.

Rooted using CWM recovery method SuperSU1.25+ per http://androidforums.com/rush-all-things-root/632670-oudhs-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-1-9-a.html

Came here, downloaded, installed and setup.

Issues:

1)network is not showing up, when searching for it by name, still does not appear.
2) Error in log says that MSS clamping failed. Only thin in red, so I am curious if this is the issue.

Ideas?

Phone: Galaxy Rush SPH-M830
Android version: 4.0.4
Firmware: Stock
kernel: 3.0.8-perf-994934-user se.infra@sep-98#1

Did you use the version of the apk and settings from the op?

The one from the play store will not work

Yup. Also worth noting. There is no MSS Clamping feature/setting in the setting menu. Don;t know if that makes a difference or not considering its the same apk as the OP put in the first post, and there is no mention of it.

Something else odd..... After trying to get wifi tether working, and just giving up for a bit of a break. I try to simply start the wifi to log onto my home network, and it just hangs. I'm wondering if there is another issue unrelated to wifi tether, but perhaps a hardware or software error in the wifi itself. It says it is trying to turn on, but wifi is just not working after I try wifi tether. Something is off.....

The version you are using, does it say WiFi Tether - TrevE Mod once you launch it? If not you somehow have the wrong apk. The version I'm using/posted in the op DOES have MSS clamping in the options, way towards the bottom
(And it is checked)

If you somehow broke WiFi altogether, you could try reflashing the stock rom

In using the correct tethering app and the correct settings. However after about 10 or 15 minutes my tethering just turns off. Anyone have a solution to this?

Do you have 'keep WiFi on during sleep' set to always?

Settings>WiFi>[menu button]>advanced>keep WiFi on during sleep - always
