That wasn't good enough for my situation. My podcasts and Google Music (and other things) take up too much space to fit into the onboard memory that this silly phone uses instead of the actual SD card.
So, I installed the Universal Init.d app and created a simple script in the /etc/init.d directory:
#!/system/bin/sh
mount -o bind /mnt/extSdCard /mnt/sdcard
