Help Some concerning issues

So the other day I switched over from an iPhone 4, my gf bought the HTC One X after I recommended it to her since shes not an Apple person and after playing around with it my self I decided to also switch. So far I'm loving the phone but a couple of things that are bothering me are this;

How is it that you cannot send DECENT quality videos?! On the iPhone I was able to send high quality minute long videos with no problem. I took a 15 second video in lower resolution and pixel rate and EVERY TIME it would say the file is too large... Are you kidding me?

Next, group messaging.. iPhone did this no problem. Me and 3 other people could send messages back and forth like we were in a chat room, HTC? Nope, sends them individually to each person. I heard some recommendation of apps that do this but they make you sign up for some lame account where my name is displayed instead of my phone number or name listed in THEIR contact list.

Also is there a way to change the keyboard other than the tilt way to make the space bar button bigger? I'm always hitting the period button after every word.

Are there any ways to get around these little inconveniences? I'd appreciate any recommendations or suggestions cause I'd hate to have to go back to the ATT store and upgrade to the iPhone 4S.

I noticed while in camera mode, taking pictures theres a constant clicking noise coming from the phone. Not sure what it is its very faint but annoying. Anyone else experience this?

Another issue I found! Check this out this is definitely strange! So I dropped my phone today and I thought I had broken the three buttons on the bottom of the phone because they would not light up in my room... So I figured I would exchange it at the store on monday and went on with my business. I went downstairs into my gym to work out and those lights magically started working so I thought huh, thats cool maybe its just because it was charging.. but then I went back into my bedroom and the lights stopped working again! I had an idea to test something so I went into my hallway and boom the lights magically came on.. but then as soon as I walk into my room they turn off!?! WHAT THE HECK!? there is no light difference, height,or perception difference what so ever so what is causing this!?

Lastly, I cannot connect to my wifi, it always says its authenticating and connecting even though every other device in my house has connected perfectly fine including my iPhone.

Thanks.

Hmm. Tempted to answer that you should go for the iphone (either the current 4S or the new one due out in the autumn) but that would be a bit flippant :)

The thing about Android, is that it recognises that every user is different, and there are always different ways you can set up your phone (with apps or settings) to suit your particular needs. If you are very used to ios, where the stock experience is very good and smooth, this can be a bit confusing. I also understand that if you have used your iphone a lot, then the ios way of doing thins seems the 'right' way, so the Android way seems 'wrong' but in truth they are just different.

Now on to your questions - I don't use my phone in the same way you do, so sorry if I can't give you exact answers.

Sending decent quality videos. Do you really send large files be email? I would be tempted to upload to dropbox or similar and just send the link. Any limit on uploading would be due to the service you use rather than the phone.
Group messaging. Used Go SMS Pro on my old Desire, worked well - and this has group messaging. How it displays on other phones - not sure. Don't need to sign up to any services to use this.
Keyboard. Agree, not a fan of the stock - it is a bit fiddly. There are lots of alternatives in the Play store though. Try a few to see what suits you better.
Clicking when taking pictures. Not sure about this. It does have a clicking sound which you can switch off in settings for taking pictures. Hitting the zoom by accident - or is it the autofocus? Mine doesn't do this. If you do whatever you do on your girlfriends phone, does it do the same?
Button lights - not sure again. Maybe the light sensor has been damaged when you dropped it?
Connecting to wifi. Never had issues connecting to my Belkin. There are a lot of potential issues here - including security settings in the router. I assume that when you scan for networks, choose your home wifi and choose connect, you get the chance to enter your password then it hangs after that? Have you tried connecting to another wifi network to see if connects fine to that?

Try 'keyboard'
Lots to try. Some paid, some free.
Popular ones include swype and swiftkey. There are normally trial versions of paid ones so you can see if they suit before stumping up cash.

Go Keyboard is a pretty popular one, there's even an iPhone theme you can download. Never used it myself, but it's pretty good by all accounts (both the iPhone keyboard and the corresponding theme in Go Keyboard).

If you go into settings in the messaging program you can change the maximum size of the attachment. I think the choices are 100, 300, or 600k.

Here's my take:

Videos: were your friends (or the recipients) on iPhones too? If so, it probably used iMessage to send rather than mms.

Group Messaging: Sense has this built in. Create a quick group of the contacts you want to include and send that way. Also, you could try Whatsapp - it'll also give you the video feats you wanted above.

Keyboard: try swift key x - it's very good. Take the time to read the instructions and set it up properly.

The camera clicking noise is a feature called "best shot". It's taking lots of pictures then you pick the one you like best. You can switch this off if you like.

The bottom buttons: It's dark in your gym and light in your bedroom, yes? It's the ight sensor determining if you need the buttons lit up or not.

I'm also tempted to recommend you "upgrade" to the iPhone 4s - although I would say it's a little late in it's life cycle personally.
