Root Some friendly help and advice please

Hi all,

I am new to LG phones so I thought I ask few questions.
I bought an used LG spectrum from ebay for my son to use as playing device without service. It has Android 2.3.6 on it.
I want to root it and put "Avatar Rom" on it, but before I do something I might regret I thought Ill ask.
Also my phone didnt come with a charger so I plugged it on my HTC Sensation charger which outputs 1.0A ( will it hurt this phone?)
I have Samsung charger 0.7A which I could use, but I couldn't find any info on what charger to use.

Please if you got any advice for LG newbie - let me know,.

If it's still on 2.3.6, you can use this tool to root and install a custom recovery. After that's done, all you have to do is put the ROM zip on the SD card and flash it.

As long as the phone is charging on the charger, you'll be fine. I use a 1.0A charger all the time. Also, iirc, the stock Spectrum charger is a 1.0A charger anyway.

one thing to watch though, i do remember there being rumblings of non oe cables causing issues when rooting and installing cwm.

Ok, I am back with more findings, questions.
1. Charger issue
My htc charger of 1.0A seems to work fine on VS920, but I went and ordered LG charger for this specific phone and it came with LG imprint on it and all; it was 0.7A and when I tried to charge the phone with it wasn't working. I emailed seller and he sent me 2nd charger and this one didn't do anything at all. I mean it wont show connected to power at all.
I used same cable from this bad charger on my HTC 1.0A charger and it works fine. I then tried that LG charger on my HTC phone and it works ( both LG chargers were in working order).
Now my question is why did seller sent me this charger (0.7A) when phone needs 1.0A.
Can someone with original charger please confirm is the output 1.0A or 0.7A.

2. Gaming and lag

I got two phones for my kids without service so they play games and watch movies. One is LG VS920 and other HTC evo 3D.
Evo 3d has lower spec but because of lower rez (qHD) both phones should have about same power when it comes to gaming.
Lets take "Like Beach Buggy Blitz" game as example.
On htc works great with all settings maxed; on LG lags with low settings.
LG has dual 1.5GHz and evo dual 1.2
both got 1Gb ram and both got Adreno 220
LG 720P and htc qHD

Can it be that I have bad rom/kernel for gaming on LG phone?
(rom cm-10.1.2-vs920 kernel 3.0.31-cyanogenmod)

If anyone knows better rom for gaming please let me know otherwise I will need to shop for another evo 3d.

My original LG charger is 0.7A, have never had a problem with it.

That's probably the best ROM/kernel. Despite the relatively decent specs, many Spectrums have performance issues, with the speculation that there were several bad production runs. Have you tried adjusting the governor or under- clocking (some actually perform better that way)?

Just a thought... the spectrum is running nearly double the screen pixels with only 25% more power.
