Hi
I recently bought a g1 and am enjoying using it a lot but there are a couple of small issues that I would like to know how hard it would be to fix.
I have put in the methods that I think would be easiest and would work best but I am by no means an expert on the android OS or coding for it so if you can think of a better solution feel free to reccomend it.
1. When an application crashes it sets my default network to orange. As to why it does this when the g1 is only available in britain I do not know but its annoying especially if I am waiting for a call off someone and dont know its done this.
How hard would it be to create an application that periodically checks my default provider is set to t-mobile and if it isnt changes it back?
2. From what I understand with some/most applications is that when you 'close' them they stay running in the background. This will no doubt be taking up more power and is entirely pointless for most applications. I know that it has a noticeable effect on battery life as if I have opened lots of applications without switching off my phone it drains the battery much faster
How hard would it be to create an app that would allow certain apps to run in the background and closes the rest down if they are not the active window? currently the only way i can think of doing this is shutting down my phone and starting it up again which is quite annoying.
Also we really need some decent games for it as the best games currently are fun for 5 minutes then get repetitive. Few of them make use of the g1's capabilities. Example: if you were playing flash games online would you play games like lunar lander or alien blood bath for any length of time? or would you go looking for something more in depth (not trying to knock down the developers here)
Perhaps we could try persuade some developers who created popular games to make a new version for the android, anyone else love the idea of desktop tower defence for the android? or more games using input methods that are unique to mobile devices such as amazed http://www.androidapps.com/t/amazed .
Im going to try get in touch with a few guys who created popular games to see if any would consider creating a android version.
any comments?
