Sony Xperia M - faulty memory ?

Hello,

I am trying to recover my dads phone numbers from his phone - he bought a new phone as his old one is almost dead. Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesnt, and the moment it turns on, apps start crashing, mostly process.gapps but many others also. It is near impossible to do anything since u have to keep pressing ok upon process crash. There is a low memory warning so i tried to delete some apps. And what i found out is that i cannot access internal memory whatsoever. That means when i try to access pictures it says memory unavailable or not connected, when i try to uninstall an app, it either crashes or it says it deleted it but it really doesnt do anything. Same with settings, i change setting, click ok, setting doesnt change. Internal memory is READ ONLY so to speak. Wifi doesnt work, and i even tried factory reset, sadly when u r supposed to click OK for the last time, it simply doesnt respond. I tried loging in safe mode, reseting app settings, etc. I am running out of ideas. I hope you can help ^^
 
If the phone was registered to a Google account, the first place i'd check would be to log into the account on a PC and see if the contacts were sync'ed. That's usually on by default so unless he turned it off, they should all be there. As for the phone, if you had factory reset, the contacts would have been wiped anyway.
 
Any viable solution is going to be rough over an online help forum. You bring up not just one or two problems, but multiple issues where it appears to be a situation that would be better done in a hands-on setting.

All I can add is with his new phone, be sure to enable syncing with his online Google account for things like his email, calendar, and contacts, and set up a good, automatic back up solution for things like photos and music. Never assume a smartphone will be a reliable, long-term way to store any data as they are not.
 
Can you somehow make it into the gmail app? From there you can try and export the contacts. If not, I don't think there's much you can do. :(
