I'm not sure about upgrading yet as I'm sure it wont be worth the extra money. Has anyone who did upgrade, happy with their 4g speeds

You might want to check out the forum for the Evo V. That's the only phone that is 4G capable right now, and it's availability has been extremely limited so far. I'm anxious to get the Evo, but I'm waiting a bit to upgrade. I don't really want to lose my $25 plan, and I also want to make sure all the bugs are worked out. From what I've read, there seems to be some issues right now. It's only been a few days, so hopefully Virgin will get things straightened out in a reasonable amount of time.

4G has been great so far. You have to make sure you're in area that gets 4G coverage but it has been wonderful for me. I've gotten 4MB to 6MB down during speed tests and there are a few issues out there right now for the EVO but they are being worked out and I wouldn't worry about them being a reason not to get the phone.

If you want one, get one

Where in IL are you?

I have actually been surprised at how many places I get the 4g. Several towns I have been around that did not have 4g listed on any of the coverage maps have had it, including where I live.

I live outside of Chicago in a suburb and get it fine. 45 minutes outside of Chicago to the West. The coverage map shows that the 4G runs along the main road down the street from my house and I get it fine inside my house.

I think that the Sprint 4G coverage map is off a bit and covers more than it shows since technically my house wasn't covered in the map but I got it.

I love it, it works great up here in the Minneapolis, MN area. I get at least 5mb down 2mb up. It is far faster than 3g. If you have wimax in your area then get the Evo V you will not regret it.

Virgin/Sprint use Clear's 4G service. There's a coverage map on clear.com that will show you by zip code where you will be able to get Clear's 4G coverage.

I get 2-3MB down on on-street coverage and 6-7MB on in-building coverage.
