Sorry! Another Internal Memory Problem but cant find the answer here!!

Sorry if I'm repeating a previous thread but I cant seem to find the answer to this annoying internal memory issue. I know that the Ace is a poor phone for internal memory.

I'm not a technophobe so please bear with me.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5839i running Android 2.3.6 and Build Number is Gingerbread.bumg1 (i dont know if this is relevant but everybody seems to mention gingerbread so I thought I'd mention it here):)

I have three apps on my SD card:-

Facebook
AppMgr III
MapMyRide

which only take up a very small bit of the SD card memory and I still have 29.77GB free on it.

All movable apps have been moved onto the SD card from the internal memory and with the caches all cleared, my internal memory is still showing Total - 189.9MB and Available 20.02MB (10.5%). If it goes below 10% then the little flag saying "Internal Memory is getting low" stays up

I can't load any more apps onto the SD card because when downloading, the Ace always says "Internal Memory Full" even though the app goes straight to the SD card. Should this be right??

Another weird thing is that when I uninstall a resource hungry app from the SD card, the internal memory shoots up. For example I've just uninstalled FB from the SD card and my internal memory has just shot up to 25.59MB available (13.5%).

Why would my internal memory increase by deleting apps from the SD card??

I guess my two main questions are:-

How do I increase my internal memory from the current 10%-13.5% bearing in mind that everything I can put on the SD card is on the SD card?

How do I get more apps downloaded onto the SD card without affecting the internal memory?

Please help as this is driving me insane!! Any please go easy on me with the technical stuff!!:D:D

Well you are not the first with this problem, if you search a bit more i am sure you get pretty good solutions in this forum itself.

Its basically a hardware limitation of this device, its has a very low internal memory and the android system relies quite heavily on the internal memory, hence causing all this trouble. If your free internal memory drops below 10% you cannot send/receive sms and you cannot install/update apps via play store, although if you put the app's apk on the sd card then you can install it, but it has to be an app that can be installed on the sd card.
The play store uses internal memory to download the installation files and then installs it on the sd card, but even this temporary usage forbids the download below 10% memory.
Almost all apps take up some space in the internal memory otherwise they will not work, so even if its an sd card app, you will still see changes in the internal memory when you install/uninstall an app.

There is no hardware fix for this problem but there is a software fix available which a lot of people including me use, but it requires a rooted device. Without root you will only get temporary fixes which are mostly cache cleanups etc, nothing substantial. There is another solution that does not require root, its there in the sticky threads in the ace forum but i don't think many people use that, take a look.

Cheers mate and thanks for coming back to me so quickly.

Not too comfortable about rooting as I've heard some bad stories but I'll have a look at the sticky!

Thanks for the explanation as well, very clear and concise!!!

I know how you feel mate, i read up a lot and asked people around for 3 months before i went on an attempted to root. And that was like 2 years ago, i really cannot think that this device would have been of any use unless its rooted, its a 2011 model and it had so many limitations and problems with it. You have the major internal memory shortage, the wifi problems and so on...
This forum is filled with small bugs and problems with the firmware, rooting really helps a lot.
I admit its dangerous if not done properly, but if you just read everything twice and follow the instructions you'll have no problems at all.

As above.Rooting is not as dangerous as say flashing a new rom/firmware but back up everything on your phone to your computer.Once you are done you can use Link2SD to properly move apps to the SD card and also use it to freeze apps you don't use a lot(Don't freeze system apps e.g be careful).I used CWM(Clock Work Mod) recovery to back up my rooted phone as well once done.
